Privacy Policy
Last updated October 4, 2026
Socio Connect is a platform that churches, nonprofits, schools, associations and other organisations ("communities") use to run their community: their people, groups, events, giving, check-in, volunteering and communication. This policy explains what information we handle, why, and the choices you have.
Who is responsible for your information
When you are a member of a community, that community decides what information it keeps about you and how it uses it. It is the controller of that information, and we process it on its behalf, following its instructions and our agreement with it. If you have a question about your information in a community, contact that community first. You can also contact us and we will help.
For the accounts of the people who run communities, billing, our own website, and how people use Socio Connect overall, we are responsible.
What we collect
- Account details: your name and email address, and a phone number if you add one.
- Profile and directory details you or your community add, such as a photo, bio, address, household and custom fields. A map location only if you choose to appear on your community's map, rounded so your exact address isn't shown.
- What you do in your community: posts, messages, prayer requests, RSVPs, group membership, volunteering, course progress and check-ins.
- Giving and payment records: amounts, dates, funds and receipts. Card and bank details are entered with Stripe and never stored by us.
- Children's check-in records that a parent or the community enters, such as a child's name, age group and allergy or safety notes. Children don't have accounts.
- Visitors' details sent through a community's website (for example "Plan a visit").
- Device and usage information: push notification tokens for our apps, basic logs needed to run and secure the service, error reports, and product usage events (which pages and features are used). Usage events don't include your name.
How we use it
- To provide Socio Connect to your community and to you: signing you in, showing your community, sending the emails, texts and notifications your community sends, and processing gifts and payments.
- To keep the service secure and working, and to fix problems.
- To provide features that use AI, such as Ask (answering members' questions), the Assistant's suggested follow-up messages and the setup coach, when a community uses them. The content is sent to our AI provider to produce a response and is not used to train its models.
- To understand which features are used so we can improve them.
- To communicate with community administrators about their account and billing.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
We use these providers to run the service. Each handles information only to do that work for us:
- Supabase (database, sign-in and file storage) and Vercel (hosting)
- Stripe (payments and giving; communities connect their own Stripe account)
- Resend (email) and Twilio (text messages)
- Anthropic (AI features) and Google (search across a community's content, where enabled)
- Apple and Google (push notifications to our apps)
- Mixpanel (product usage, without names) and Sentry (error reports)
A community can also choose to connect other services, such as Planning Center, Zoom, Google Calendar, Google Meet, HubSpot, Salesforce, Zapier or its own systems through our API and webhooks. When it does, we send them the information the community has chosen to send. Within a community, what you post and your directory details are visible to other members as your community's settings and your own privacy choices allow.
We may also share information when the law requires it, or to protect people from harm.
How long we keep it
We keep information for as long as your community uses Socio Connect, or until it or you delete it. Conversations with Ask are deleted after 180 days. A community that leaves can export its data and ask us to delete it, and we will.
Your choices and rights
- You can see and edit your profile, choose what appears in your community's directory, and choose which notifications you get.
- You can ask your community, or us, for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete it. Depending on where you live (for example in the EU, UK or California) you have these rights by law. We will not treat you differently for using them.
- You can unsubscribe from emails with the link in each one, and stop texts by replying STOP.
Security
Information is encrypted in transit. Each community's information is kept separate from every other community's by our database's access rules. Sign-in tokens for connected services are stored encrypted, and access by our staff is limited to what is needed to support you.
Children
Accounts are for people aged 13 and over. Children's information in Socio Connect is limited to what a parent or the community enters for check-in and safety, and it is visible only to the people the community allows.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell community administrators before the change takes effect.
